Royal role for teenager Dan

Sep 27 2011

TEENAGER Daniel Veal is set to wow the crowds in the musical The King & I at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall this week.

The 14-year-old Bishop Walsh School pupil joined Tudor Musical Comedy Society three years ago. He will be playing Louis, the son of Anna Leonowens, the teacher who charms the court of the King of Siam, and sings a duet with the heir to the throne Prince Chululongkorn played by Shivinder Ahluwalia.

Tudors chairman Nigel Gaunt said: This show hasnt been seen in Sutton for many years so dont miss the chance to come and see us in our 50th anniversary production.

The popular musical follows the story of widow Anna who accepts a job as a live-in governess to the King of Siams children. It includes world famous hits such as Getting To Know You and I Whistle A Happy Tune, all set against the exotic backdrop of the Royal Palace and Court of the King in 19th century Bangkok.

The production runs from Tuesday September 27 until Saturday October 1 with performances starting at 7.15pm, with a Saturday afternoon matinee and gala evening on Thursday September 29.

Tickets are from s14 for adults and s10 for children, and are available from the box office on 07842 214631 or 0121 3082431.
