Doncaster Ladies 1st XI 3 Sutton Coldfield Ladies 1st XI 5 Sutton travelled up to Doncaster with one goal in mind – coming away with three points in the Slazenger EHL Women’s Conference North. Within seconds, they took an early lead through Jane Sixsmith. This was followed by Vicky Woolford converting a short corner than a penalty flick. Sutton played confident, dominating hockey and with the home side converting a short corner against the run of play it was 3-1 at half time. This really was a game of two halves! Doncaster came out with determination and took the game to Sutton. Man of the match, Woolford, completed her hat-trick to put Sutton 4-1 ahead, surely a clear win? Not the case, as Doncaster replied with two goals of their own. However Sutton kept their composure and Sandeep Maan added to the scoring with 10 to go. This Sunday Sutton host Sunderland at Vesey at 11.30am. As always, all support is appreciated. The students took a dubious early lead through a short corner but Sutton were undeterred and first Mel Ball then Vicky Woolford (2) scored. Then the visitors scored two quick goals and suddenly Sutton saw their lead disappear, Birmingham scoring another three, leaving Sutton in shock. |
