Burton 20 v Sutton Coldfield 34
THE men in green are top of Midlands 1 West after coming back from 17-12 down at half time to record a fine victory against tough opponents - but at a cost.
Suttons battling No8 Tim Sheffield suffering a C1 vertebrae fracture at the top of his spine. Thankfully there is no nerve damage and he should make a full recovery. To add to the woes flanker Alan Keylock suffered a broken ankle.
However the reshuffled Sutton pack gelled well and the result secured Sutton another bonus point for scoring over four tries and took them to the top of the table.
The first half proved a scrappy affair but tries by centre Jon Raistrick and Josh Groom, the first converted by Dan Poulton, kept Sutton in touch and gave them a momentary lead.
A revitalised Sutton emerged for the second half, fly half Poulton touching down, and although Burton hit back with a long range penalty Sutton from then on took control. Andy Tovey scored followed quickly by Groom and Raistrick both getting their second tries as the men in green completed a remarkable recovery.
