At the recent Warwickshire LTA Awards presentation dinner, Bev Lancaster of Penns Lane TC was this year’s recipient of the Warwickshire LTA Referee of the Year Award. Well respected on the circuit, Bev organises and referees many tournaments with great enthusiasm. She is the referee for the Nike Junior Tour (NJT) and the RPT tour as well as a number of events in and around Warwickshire. The NJT is the largest junior event in the world for U12 and U14 players. Bev not only manages the tour and referees some of the events, including the NJT National Masters Finals at the National Tennis Centre but last year was invited to assist Michel Renaux, referee of the NJT International Masters and the French Open Junior Championships, at the finals in the Dominican Republic. This was the first time an official from the UK has received an invitation to this event. Further good news for Penns Lane TC is that facilities at the club are currently being improved with help from the LTA.
