Bedworth 2 Sutton Coldfield Town 1 Royals manager Chris Keogh insists his side are focusing their attentions on their league form this season after their short-lived romance with the FA Cup. “We’re very disappointed but we got what we deserved for a poor performance by the standards we’ve set,” said Keogh. “We did have our chances but it doesn’t gloss over the poor performance.” Injuries certainly played a role in the result and it took only ten minutes for Bedworth to take the lead when a great overhead kick hit the crossbar and Ian Roper, formerly of Walsall, made no mistake with the rebound. On the stroke of half time Bedworth’s Alex Gudger made it two, Marshall pulling one back for the Royals from the penalty spot after Matt Dodd was upended in the box. Keogh however insists that, while disappointed, everyone was ‘taking it on the chin.’ The league campaign sees the Royals travel to Rainworth Miners Welfare on Saturday where Keogh says he is looking for a three-point morale booster. Meanwhile Sutton’s game at Belper has been re-arranged from this Tuesday to Saturday September 17. |
