Sheffield Ladies 1st XI 2 Sutton Coldfield Ladies 1st XI 5 With the sour disappointment of Sutton’s loss to Sunderland still fresh in the air, Sutton were determined to prove why they are not yet out of the Slazenger EHL Women’s Conference North title race. After soaking up and adjusting to their tactics the away side settled and took the lead through man of the match, Vicky Woolford. Sutton then dominated the rest of the first half, with Celia Butler adding to the scoreline and Woolford completing a first half hat trick. Despite Sutton staying in control and playing assured hockey, Sheffield managed to pull two goals back. Woolford coolly converted a penalty stroke and despite not keeping the clean sheet as they wanted, Sutton were pleased with the three points. Sutton Coldfield Ladies 1st XI 4 Belper Ladies 1st XI 0 With the news of Belper claiming a draw against Durham on the Saturday, Sutton were in high spirits and ready to send out a message to the league leaders. The home team’s lead came through Jane Sixsmith flicking in a penalty corner and this was followed with a goal from Mel Ball. Second half goals came from Sixsmith and Vicky Woolford. A special mention must go to man of the match, Charlene Mason, who put in a fine display and Alex Wadeson, who celebrated her league debut with a clean sheet in goal. With only two matches remaining, and Sutton lying three points behind Durham, there’s all to play for on Sunday against Beeston, 11.20am at Vesey. EH Mixed Trophy Round 3 Sutton Coldfield Strollers 2 Banbury Mixed 3 After the Strollers round two domination, the team went into this match with an air of arrogance which Banbury soon punctured with an early goal. Goals from Matt Taylor and Clare Florida-James put them ahead however numerous opportunities in front of goal were missed allowing Banbury to clinch the victory and knock out the Strollers. |
