ASTON seconds kept club spirits high after the first team match against Lordswood Dixonians in Midlands Two West (North) was postponed due to a frozen pitch. Instead it was left to the seconds who beat Tamworth 2nds 36-10 in a Staffs Merit Table fixture. Ian Wilson(2), Adam Rowlands(2), Darren Gardner and James McQuoid scored tries, with Chris Cheney kicking 3 conversions. With the third team match away at Aldridge also postponed, attention turned to the fourths who lost 34-24 to Bounrville Hippos, with Chris Turner scoring all Aston’s points with two tries, four penalties and one conversion. This weekend, Aston 1st XV play Ashbourne in a re-arranged league game, kick off 2.15pm. Elswhere in a weather hit fixture list, Sutton Coldfield 3rds beat near neighbours Old Saltleians 3rds 22-3, despite concerns about the state of the pitch. |
