Ross appointed cricket vice-president

THE President of Sutton Coldfield Cricket Club has been appointed Vice-President of the Birmingham and District Premier Cricket League.

James Ross held several important offices in the Willis-Coroon League, before it amalgamated with the Birmingham League in 1997.

The Sutton Club held its annual dinner and presentation on Friday, January 29, at the Moor Hall Golf Club.

Warwickshire’s Dougie Brown was the guest of honour.

The First XI (Saturday) Awards went to Mark Guest and Richard Norgrove, and the First XI (Sunday) Awards were given to Chris Hobbis and Sam Sargent.

The Second Xl Award went to Naeem Arif on Sundays.

Sam Sargent received the Carol Hansford Memorial Trophy, for being the outstanding Junior Player of the 2009 season.

Junior Clubman of the Year was Sam Elgar.
