EBENEZER has proved hes no Scrooge as hes spent 40 years dressing up as Father Christmas to raise money for charity.
David Ebenezer from Four Oaks, has been donning the red coat and white beard for four decades for Moose International charitys biggest fund-raiser as he visits local children in Sutton and Erdington on his sleigh.
Moose International local governor Alan Carter said: David is an inspiration to us all for the hard work and dedication he puts into his charity work.
He is out six nights a week in the run-up to the big day in December come rain or shine.
David deserves this recognition and long may he continue to do this.
The 76-year-old shares his name with Dickensian miser Ebenezer Scrooge and his wife Alwynne, who acts as Santas helper with him every year, believes this has spurred him on in his humanitarian work.
There is no way you can be Scrooge-like with a name like ours, you have to prove your not! she said.
The grandfather of two, joined Moose International, which supports a number of local and national charities, first becoming Santa in 1971 after his colleagues nominated him for the role, which he has kept ever since.
Its lovely to see the little childrens faces when they come up to the sleigh. I always give them a wave and ask them what they want for Christmas and usually have some sweeties to give them.
Mr Ebenezer received the special recognition award from the Birmingham Childrens Hospital after raising s7,500 with the charity.
Hamish Shilliday, community fund raiser for the hospital said:: Wed like to say a particular thank you to David Ebenezer, who has fund raised tirelessly on behalf of Moose International Charity.
Wed like to say a huge thank you for their ongoing support, especially as they do a lot of their fund raising during the freezing winter!
