A BIG-HEARTED businessman from Sutton Coldfield is urging people to support a charity ball he is organising to raise funds to help children in the developing world. The event is taking place on Saturday September 19 and is being organised by Roy Cooper, founder of RPCM in Sutton Coldfield, and Nigel Watson, founder of Q4 Solutions, based in the Cotswolds. The exclusive black-tie ball with an Indian theme will be held on Saturday, September 19, at the Cotswolds Water Park Four Pillars Hotel and is expected to attract a host of celebrity guests and top class entertainment to help raise funds for UNICEF, Rainbow Trust, Banana Appeal and the Global Children’s Trust. Roy and Nigel themselves will be heading off to southern India to take part in the 2009 Karma Enduro challenge. This tough challenge will see them driving a 37bhp Hindustani Ambassador motorcycle 2,500km across a variety of challenging terrains including the Western Ghat Mountains, desert, jungle and the sometimes treacherous Indian road system. The intrepid duo’s previous campaigns have resulted in the building of a school in Kenya and the installation of a water pipeline ensuring provision of clean water to a remote Masaai village. Roy said: “The Indian Summer Ball will help raise much needed funds for these charities which are doing life-transforming work with poverty-stricken children across three continents.” A number of sponsors have already come on board and some impressive prizes have been donated for a charity auction, but Roy and Nigel are keen for more to sign up. They also have a number of tables remaining for the event. Tickets to the event cost just £65 per person (a special price for those responding to the Sutton Coldfield News story). “We are looking for corporate sponsors to help cover the cost of the event, as well as prizes and gifts for our charity auction. This will help us to ensure we can channel as much funding as possible into projects which will make a huge difference,” added Roy.
