The mysterious ‘orange orbs’ spotted in Sutton skies may have a reasonable explanation according to an UFO expert.
Birmingham UFO Group investigator Dave Hodrien said he believes most of the sightings are in fact Chinese lanterns.
The objects are often set off during celebrations, such as weddings and birthdays. They operate like mini hot air balloons, with a candle filling a sealed area with hot air, causing it to float up into the sky.
“A number of these sightings have been described as orange glowing orbs of light, sometimes individual, sometimes multiple,” said Mr Hodrien from BUFOG. “I personally believe that at least some of them are Chinese lanterns.”
The Sutton News has received even more reports of the strange lights in the skies this week. One witness, Pat Allen, said that the object he saw was ‘balloon shaped and red, with an orange glow in the centre’.
