A PROLIFIC teenage burglar who targeted a string of vulnerable people on his own doorstep has been jailed. Connar Hudson, 18, was this week starting a two year, six month sentence after pleading guilty to eight break-ins at homes in Erdington. Hudson, who had been awaiting sentence for an earlier robbery, admitted the spate of burglaries when police visited him in prison. At first the teenager asked for the offences to be taken into consideration in return for a more lenient sentence. But when he became unco-operative and refused to go along with his initial agreement, police decided to press charges instead. Hudson, who lived in bedsits in and around the Slade Road area of Erdington, was also jailed for one count of theft. He targeted the elderly and vulnerable on the Minstead estate and Slade Road throughout last year until he was finally arrested for a street robbery. During the break-ins he stole more than £5,000 worth of electrical items, cash and £3,500 worth of jewellery. Detective Sergeant Simon Turner built up the case against Hudson after he backed down on using the TIC (taken into consideration) process. He finally pleaded guilty to the additional nine charges at Birmingham Crown Court. |
