A FUND raiser from St Giles’ Hospice was the guest of honour when Abbey was relaunched as Santander in Sutton Coldfield. Linda Bridges, corporate fund raiser for St Giles’ was invited to cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony after staff selected it as one of their three favourite local charities. Customers can now vote for which of the three charities they would like to receive a £250 donation from Santander, by putting a voucher in a voting box each time they visit the bank in Lower Parade. Vouchers for St Giles’, which cares for people with cancer and other serious illnesses, along with Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Birmingham Youth Volunteers, will be counted at the end of February. Sheila Holyman, branch manager of Santander in Sutton Coldfield, said: “Two of our staff members have been touched by the work of St Giles’ and with the new Sutton hospice facility so local to us, we were delighted to invite Linda to take part in the ribbon-cutting to mark our official relaunch as Santander.” Linda said: “It was an honour for St Giles’ to take part in the relaunch celebrations, and we are thrilled to have been chosen by local staff at Santander as one of the charities which could receive their generous support.” |
