Spyro: The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (PS3)

Dec 19 2008

By Phillip Clarke

After years upon years of different versions on different consoles and such, it's a surprise the game developers keep coming up with completely fresh ideas or use old material and make it feel completey new or put a twist in an old storyline and use it again.

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, in fact it's a really good thing because I've always liked Spyro so did my sisters but I stopped following it after a while but now it's here and I've got to say I'm impressed, with only enemys now allies, and I'm also impressed with the quality of the voice acting and voice actors such as Elijah Wood who does the voice over for Spyro, Christina Ricci does the voice for Spyro's former arch enemy now partner Cynder, Gary Oldman is the voice of Ignitus, a 'sort of father figure' to Spyro, Mark Hammil does the voice of another of Spyro's enemies Malefor the Dark Master and others too.

Now about the actual game, as you might expect it is a problem-filled platformer, which you will have to use your logic to figure out, using the four of Spyro's elements, fire, ice, electricity and earth, also you can use Cynder's powers too, which are poison, fear, darkness and wind.

The one bad think about the game is the darkness. I mean normally that's good, but it is all just quite dark, there wasn't much brightness at all but it is still a great game.

The graphics, like to storylinie have evolved, and are now beautifully presented on either dark, sinister background sceneries swarming with lava or open but still dark backgrounds.

The game has great sound effects and graphics and is one of the best Spyro games to date, for that I'll give it 9/10.
