SSX and Amped have set the benchmark for snowboarding game in the past so it's interesting to see another newbie hit the market. The one thing that this has in it's favour is that the graphics are looking really good on the 360 and the mountain slopes look lush. The soundtrack is as 'rad'as you would expect, for non-extremist people like me that basically means, pumping and edgy I guess. The music adds to the feel of hurtling down the slopes, the speed element is dealt with really nicely here and it is a good thrill getting on that board and just going for it. The game is endorsed by top boarder Shaun White and the action oozes the authenticity you would expect from having been overseen by a pro, some great moves can be churned out by using the thumbsticks. The real joy of this game is the free-riding mountains and the half-pipes etc at the bottom, it feels like snowboarding should feel like, it's a lot of fun. Offline or online it's up to you, the game is a blast whatever you decide as you speed, jump and pull tricks at a breakneck pace. The game has a very cool feel to it and all in all it's a well designed package that I enjoyed, it may not have pulled up the proverbial trees but it was a great experience playing it. Score 3/5 |
